This is a small antique 6-draw pocket telescope, an English hiking or navigational instrument by Baker of London, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.
A charming and compact example of Victorian optical ingenuity
Crafted in brass, with each of the six draw tubes offering smooth extension
Primary barrel dressed in a rich chestnut leather jacket, gently aged with use
Brass surfaces display a pleasing time-worn patina, enhancing the antique appeal
Rear draw tube finely engraved 'Baker, 244 High Holborn, London' – a known Victorian maker
Fitted with a push-type brass dust cap protecting the 22mm objective lens
