This is an antique Lord Bury 4 draw telescope. An English, leather and brass terrestrial or astronomical refractor by J.H. Steward of London, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.
A captivating and pleasingly tactile Victorian telescope
Displaying a desirable aged patina, in good original order
Dashing appearance, dressed discretely in lightly time worn black leather
Polished brass draw barrels show bright golden tones
Replete with a protective leather end cap for the front element
Presenting a clear, bright optical performance with a 40mm (1.5") primary objective lens
Swivel type dust cover to the concentric ring decorated eyecup
Each of the four draw tubes offer a reassuring pull
Engraved brass plaque to the primary barrel with maker's mark
Reads 'The Lord Bury Telescope, Sole Manufacturer - J.H Steward, 406 Strand, London
