Mid-Century Silver Napkin Ring, Barker Bros, 1961

This is a typically sharp design Mid-Century Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The napkin ring is an octagonal square with four long sides and four chamfered corners. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The napkin ring was made in Birmingham by Barker Brothers Silverware Ltd and dates to 1961. Founded in 1801 by Mary Barker, the firm became Barker Brothers in 1886 when Mary's grandsons were in control. They were based in Birmingham but also had pieces assayed in Chester and London. They were very successful silversmiths and electroplaters and remained in business up until 1992, latterly under the name Barker-Ellis.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents anf just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin ring is 4cm / 1.57ins square and 2.5cm / 0.98ins deep. It weighs in at a respectable 27.1g / 0.96oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on one corner of the napkin ring, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter M for 1961 and the B B S Ld in a shield makers' mark for Barker Brothers Silverware Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
