George V Silver Salt Spoon, Walker & Hall, 1926
This is a neat George V Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the classic Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The salt spoon was made in Sheffield by famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and dates to 1926. Walker & Hall are one of the great names of English silverware. The firm was founded by George Walker in 1845 with Henry Hall joining in 1853 to form Walker & Hall. Hugely successful and very highly regarded they remained in business until they were merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware in 1963.
Condition is good, with no dings or dents, no significant salt corrosion and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after almost 100 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salt spoon is 5.7cm / 2.2ins long and weighs 4.2g / 0.15oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter II for 1926 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
