Art Deco Silver Box - 1932 - Goldsmiths

A truly smart and highly sought-after Art Deco silver cigarette box by the top-notch silversmith, "Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co.".
Originally a cigarette box lined in Cedar wood, it would accommodate a smaller cigar width wise, with the interior measuring 5 1/4" wide one small grain crack to the cedar in the top left hand corner (insignificant but mentioned for accuracy). The box could easily be used as a desk tidy or jewelry box the look is exactly what our clients are currently looking for.
The box is made from English sterling silver with a smooth finish in the centre and two raised bands either side, beautifully engine-turned.
The box is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1932. The underside is signed by the eminent Yorkshire retailer, Ogdens of Harrogate. This box being made 5 years before the Imperial State Crown, part of the Crown Jewels, commissioned by Ogdens in their workshops in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of King George VI.
