Arts & Crafts Dressing Table Pot, Drew & Sons 1906

This is an elegant Arts & Crafts Cut Glass Dressing Table Pot with a Sterling Silver Lid. The circular pot is slice cut all around the body and has a flat base. The silver screw top lid has planished decoration across the top and is lighlty gilded on the inside. There is a silver threaded collar at the top of the glass pot.
The dressing table pot was made in London for Drew & Sons and dates to 1906. Founded by Samuel Summers Drew in the 1840s, Drew & Sons were high end manufacturers and retailers based initially in Piccadilly Circus and later in Regent Street. They were particularly known for leather goods and luggage, picnic sets and silverware and had a whole floor dedicated to military antique furniture and campaign equipment. They held Royal Warrants from Queen Victoria and many of the crowned heads of Europe. They ceased trading in the late 1930s.
Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks in the glass, no dings or dents in the silver and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after nearly 120 years of good service. The lid screws on smoothly and shuts securely. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pot is 6cm / 2.36ins in diameter and stands 4cm / 1.57ins high. The lid by itself weighs in at a respectable 29.0g / 1oz of solid Sterling Silver and all together the pot weighs 118.5g / 4.18oz.
The hallmarks, on the side of the lid, are a little distorted by the screw thread but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter l for 1906 and the S.S.D over E.D sponsors' mark for Samuel Summers Drew and Ernest Drew of Drew & Sons.
