In 1775 Johnathan Mappin at the age of 18 started a small cutlery workshop in Sheffield. In 1849 the first London showroom was opened. In 1868 Mappin & Webb and co was formed. Mappin & Webb Ltd was first recorded in 1889. Today Mappin and Webb holds a royal warrant as silversmiths to HM the Queen and to HRH the Prince of Wales.
