Stunning Shapland & Petter firescreen with galleon Arts Crafts Shapland Petter Fire screen %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Stunning Arts & Crafts oak fire screen with a leaded glass panel depicting a galleon. To each side of the glass is a copper panel with a stylised seed head to the centre. This was made by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple in 1894 and is pictures in Daryl Bennett's book on Shapland Furniture. As one can see there is damage to the glass which has been historically repaired with lead many years ago,
There is a slither of oak missing from the top as shown in an image.
This screen is very rare and although not perfect would light up any room.
Height 99cms. Width 76cms. Depth at feet 27cms.
