This attractive little silver pounce pot with its striking pierced lid was made by the London silversmith Susanna Cook. The hallmarks to both the cylinder and the lid are dated for London 1853. The interior is gilded. There is a family crest on the cylinder of a gauntlet holding a crown within a foliate wreath, suggesting a military background. 'Pounce' was a fine powder often made from cuttlefish bone and was used to dry ink or smooth the surface of paper before writing. It is in very good overall condition and measures 5.7cm in height x 4cm in diameter Payment - We are happy to accept payment by Bank Transfer/International Transfer.
