Silver Inkstand by C S. Harris 1916
We have the pleasure of being able to offer this solid silver George V inkstand by the important silversmith Charles Stuart Harris.
The inkstand is of the rectangular form with a draped scroll rim, with a square for an inkwell and a pen well, all on on scrolled feet. The inkstand is completed with the original glass inkwell with a draped scroll patterned silver lid. All of the silver components are hallmarked for London 1916, with makers marks for C.S.Harris and Sons.
C.S.Harris and sons was a large and important silversmith and jeweler with premises at Hatton Garden, London, Soho and Clerkenwell. The company was known for producing very high quality silverware and example of their work are very sought after.
This particular inkwell is just over 6 inches (15.5cm) long and is in a very good condition other than a small indentation to base. This can be seen just to the left of the glass inkwell in photo 1.
