Pair Victorian Silver Master Table Salts

Large pair of Victorian silver table salts by John Samuel Hunt, the final third of the partnership with Paul Storr and John Mortimer, "Storr & Mortimer" who had both retired a few years previously. These appear to be cross-over pieces as one has the scripted "Storr & Mortimer" mark to the base and the both have matching model numbers to the base.
Melon lobed bodies set on 3 twisted shell form feet with pretty foliate terminals. The rims have a reed and ribbon border. Hallmarks to the body are rubbed but for London and the mark for John Samuel Hunt is legible and dates for c.1850. Base marks as described previously. Both have a gilt interior and small pictorial crest of a dragon head.
They measure 9.5cm (3 3/4") wide and 5cm (2") high and weigh 352g/11.3ozt in total.
Condition is good with no damage or dents. There is some surface wear and the gilding has been rubbed at the high points of the flutes. There are also some small areas of solder tucked under the rim within the dips, 3 on one and 1 on the other which suggest small repairs but this is invisible inside. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost. For US customers, current tariff charges of 10% must be paid in advance of posting. Please contact us to go through the details.
