Grand Tour alabaster Temple of Hercules Victor
A rare and beautiful Grand Tour alabaster architectual cabinet model of the Temple of Hercules Victor in Rome. Mounted on a grey alabaster base inscribed 'Tempio di Vesta Roma'. The actual temple is located in the Piazza Bocca della Verita on the banks of the Tiber and was mistaken for a Temple of Vesta due to its round construction throughout the 19th Century. Rome, Italy, circa 1860.
