George V Silver Pepper Shaker, Walker & Hall, 1932

This is a smart George V Sterling Silver Pepper Shaker of traditional form. The shaker stands on four spread feet with a bulbous tapering body and a scalloped top rim. The pull off pierced top has a turned finial. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The pepper shaker was made in Birmingham by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and dates to 1932. Walker & Hall are one of the great names of English silverware. The firm was founded by George Walker in 1845 with Henry Hall joining in 1853 to form Walker & Hall. Hugely successful and very highly regarded they remained in business until they were merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware in 1963.
Condition is good with just a small dent on the underside of the base near one of the legs plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. It stands securely without rocking. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pepper shaker is 7.5cm / 2.9ins high and 2.8cm / 1.1ins wide. It weighs in at 30.3g / 1.07oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the front of the body are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter H for 1932 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
