George V Silver Napkin Ring, Birmingham, 1919
Boots the Chemist, founded by John Boot in 1849, is one of Britain's best known high street names. What is less well known is that between around 1900 and 1925 they had their own proprietary line of Sterling Silver tableware and vanity items.
This distinctive plain silver napkin ring was made for the Boots Pure Drug Company in 1919 in Birmingham. It's actually quite unusual to find a totally plain napkin ring from this period. It's a very well made piece that would look completely at home on a modern dining table or make a good addition to a collection. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The Napkin Ring is 4.2cm in diameter and 1.9cm deep. It weighs a respectable 16.0g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks are well struck and clear to read, although the makers' mark is a little rubbed. They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "u" for 1919 and the BD over PC makers' mark for the Boots Pure Drug Company.
Shipping in the UK is £5.00 by Hermes Tracked & Signed courier.
Overseas customers please enquire about shipping costs before making a purchase.
