George V Silver Mustard Spoon, James Deakin, 1922
This is a good quality George V Sterling Silver Mustard Spoon in the nail top design. This was a very old spoon pattern that was revived and became popular in the interwar years.
The mustard spoon is made in Sheffield by James Deakin & Sons and dates to 1922. James Deakin founded the family firm in the 1860s and was joined by his three sons in the mid-1880s. They produced a wide range of consistently good quality silverware up until the late 1930s.
Condition is very good with no dings, dents or damage and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after almost 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The mustard spoon is 6.6cm / 2.6ins long and weighs in at 3.7g / 0.13oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter e for 1922 and the JD over WD makers' mark for John Deakin and William Deakin of James Deakin & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
