Continental Silver Mesh Purse w/ Expanding Neck
This is a charming continental silver mesh purse with an expanding neck and a cap that snaps shut. It dates to the early part of the 20th century and would make a very elegant addition to any evening outfit.
When closed it is a very discreet size but when you open the cap and expand the neck it is easy to reach in and take out what you need. It has a small ring on the side of the neck enabling it to be attached to a chain or finger ring for additional security.
The purse is in good condition with no damage to the silver mesh, the expanding neck or the snap shut cap. The mesh in particular is often damaged on these purses, so it is great to find one in such good order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
When closed, the purse is 8.2cm / 3.2ins long and the cap is 1.6cm / 0.6ins across. When fully extended, the neck is 6.1cm / 2.4ins across. It weighs a very respectable 26.2g / 0.92oz of solid silver.
There is a makers' mark to the underside of the lid but it is very small and we have so far been unable to identify it.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
