Here we have for sale this complete set of fabulous antique Victorian Apostle spoons and tongs in marvellous condition in their original leather case. The bearded apostle is identical on each spoon, he is holding a book and is standing on a butterfly shaped corinthian column. Each spoon has a an ornate and picture back floral design of a daisy. The heavy tongs are embellished with an apostle on each side and the detailing of the folds in the apostle's clothing is brilliantly executed. The spoons and tongs are contained in their stunning original navy blue fitted velvet case.

Condition Report

In overall excellent condition for their 120 year age, with surface scratches and tarnish marks consistent with age, however no dents or significant wear and look unused. The interior of the box is in superb order and looks almost new. There is some wear to the exterior of the case, see photos, but is structurally sound and holds the spoons perfectly. The catch on the box is slightly loose and does not close completely, but this sort of wear to the box is common place with boxes if this age, the catch frequently secures the box closed but then reopens again.
