19thC Italian Grand Tour Bronze Statue of David

A 19th century Italian Grand Tour bronze figure of Michelangelo’s David on a verde antico marble base.
The bronze was purchased in 1971 by the previous owner from the historic Peter Bazzanti & Son Gallery on Lungarno Corsini in central Florence. Established in 1822, the Gallery has links with the famous Ferdinando Marinelli Foundry and has been a favourite stop for art lovers on the Grand Tour since the early 19th century.
The bronze has a later good quality marble base which was likely added by the Gallery around the time of it’s purchase in 1971 and comes with the original purchase receipt.
Not uncommonly with antique Italian Grand Tour bronze figures, there are some small casting holes to the right thigh, partially hidden by the arm, and an old metal filling repair to the back of the right leg (see last two photos).
Total height: 35 cm
Weight: 3 kg Currently shipping to UK and USA.
Free shipping to UK mainland on smaller items.
For larger items and overseas, please email for quote.
Preferred payment method is bank transfer. Paypal also accepted.
