19th C, French Silver Topped Cologne Decanters French Silver Crystal %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Dating to around 1900 and by master Parisian silversmith Georges Falkenberg (active 1894 - 1928) a cased set of three shaped and cut crystal flasks with highest grade silver (950/1000) mounts and screw caps. The use of these bottles is most likely for cologne or perfume of some form, however it is of a size that spirits may also be its intended application.

The inside surface of the mount appears to be gold over silver. Each bottle is sealed with a cut crystal stopper (all are original to the piece and fit perfectly) the inside of the cap has its addition of cork lining. As with all high quality fluid decanters/flasks, the tops are screw down, and these are all functioning perfectly. The chased decoration to the cap is a rolling wave inside a horizontal band.

The crystal is unmarked but is reminiscent of the finest traditions of the best french crystal makers such as baccarat, in effect 'quality'. The body has been shaped vertically with finger and thumb designed panels separated by sharp crisp vertical v cut. Shoulders and corners have been carefully rounded to ensure less likelihood of damage and the base has been finished with a star cut.

The French black morocco leather carrying box is also original and shows only the most minor wear to the outside and inside is clean and solid, each partition is designed specifically to fit just the right flask. the hinge and claps are also in excellent condition no issue to report.

Each silver top is marked with the Minerva 1 mark which is the french assay standard for 950/1000 highest grade silver. They are also marked with the G F and falcon cartouche that is exclusive to Georges Falkenberg.

The condition is excellent, this was a luxury item when it first was made and remains so today.

Size: Each bottle is 15 cm high and at the base measures 6.5 cm by 4.5 cm
The case is 16 cm wide 80 cm deep and 17 cm high
weighs: 1.3 kg
