Sunderland Lustre Plaque Prepare to Meet Thy God Lusterware plaque orange lusterware
In original condition, the Scott & Sons, Southwick puce orange lusterware plaque on an off white ground the transfer printed and hand painted center square section reading ‘Prepare to Meet Thy God’ amongst floral swags and heads with the further text ‘In the Lord do I put my trust let me never be confounded PSA XXXI Vers 1’ with trumpeter beneath.

The condition of the plaque is superb with only one very small chip to the upper edge. There is a later ribbon in place for hanging the plaque through its two drilled holes.

From about 1837 Scott & Sons, Southwick produced Sunderland luster and the pottery produced the usual range of wares but specialised in religious plaques. They apparently did not mark their production in any way.

These look fantastic grouped together in toilets or hallways. Preparing to meet ones god on the porcelain throne, perhaps?
