This a good, large and heavy Japanese Kutani stick-stand with attractive hand painted detail and pierced trellis-work to the top. The piece is in good sound condition, with only a small hairline to the base but it is very stable. It is signed to the base with a six character mark. The stick-stand dates from the 19th century circa 1890 and has wonderful hand painted decoration and gilding with birds in flight amidst peony blooms, in soft coral and ironstone colours. The stick-stand is a good size measuring 61cm high by 28cm in diameter.
