English Porcelain Scallop Shell Pen Tray c.1820
A very pretty early 19th century porcelain pen tray with moulded scallop shell walls in pink and yellow against a green ground with gilt seaweed and with stylised swan heads at either end, the whole picked out with gilding. Inside there are 2 raised walls with scallops to hold your pens and the base is very finely painted with garden flowers. Probably made by Coalport, c.1820, unmarked.
It measures 28cm (11") long, 6cm (2 3/8") wide and 7.6cm (3") high.
Condition is very good and it displays well but one swan head has been restored. This has been done very well and professionally but the tone has become slightly creamy and the gilding has been done in gold paint and has dulled. No damage or other repairs. The enamels are lovely and bright and surface wear to the gilding is minimal, just a small amount to the other swan. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
We wish to ensure all our customers are happy with their purchases and offer a full no quibble return policy for all items returned within 14 days. We ask that returns are notified within 7 days where possible. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility in terms of cost and safeguarding the item through transit.
