Antique English silver pocket watch, chain & fob
Antique English silver pocket watch and chain.
The watch has an English movement from the Lancashire Watch Company. It is signed with the name of the original retailer, Frengley Brothers of 5 Crow Street, Dublin. The company was listed as jewellers, silversmiths and clockmakers.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is engraved with an original dedication, 'W J Cairns, from his Mother, March 1896'.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and it is hallmarked inside both of the case backs for Chester 1895 with a maker's mark for Thomas Hewitt of the Lancashire Watch Company.
The watch glass is in good condition.
The dial is in good condition and has pin set blued steel hands, a sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes with an antique silver single chain, 27cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a shorter section of chain which has a 1901 silver compass by the Birmingham silversmith William Adams.
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE.
