Omega Silver Open-Face Pocket Watch
Made in Switzerland – 1918

This is a silver 0.800 open-face Omega pocket watch, made in Switzerland in 1918.

Dial: The white enamel dial has black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions. The dial has golden antique-style chased hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre: “OMEGA” with the logo. The protective glass is in excellent condition.

Movement: The fifteen jewels, anchor lever escapement movement has a plain cock with polished steel regulator and blued steel over coil hairspring. The movement is in good working condition however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique watch. The movement is signed: Omega and numbered: 5258897.

Case: The watch lies in a silver 0.800 open-face case with a stunning engine-turned finish and monogram-free cartouche (rare to find a watch in such unused condition) The inner side of the case is stamped for silver 0.800 and numbered: 6022383. The Silver cuvette is decoratively engraved with several medals and signed: “Omega”.

Omega History: The watch making firm Omega was found in 1848 by Louis Brandt in Le Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In 1880, it moved to its current location in Bienne, Switzerland. At the beginning, the company was not referred to as Omega. The name was later christened in 1894, when a watch model, the “Omega” was launched. Today, One of the world’s better known watch companies, they have been the official timekeepers for the Olympic Games, since 1932 and have also been supplying American and Russian astronauts with their “moon watch” since 1965 and 1975 respectively. The firm has been a member of the Swatch Group since 1983.
