6 x Edwardian Silver Heart Coffee Spoons, 1901
This is a charming set of Six Edwardian Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons. The spoons have barley twist stems and heart shaped finials. They would be ideal as a gift for any romantic occasion such as a wedding, an engagement, a silver anniversary or Valentine's Day.
The coffee spoons were made in Birmingham by silversmiths A.J. Bailey and date to 1901. The firm of A.J.Bailey was established in Birmingham in the 1890s, later becoming A.J. Bailey & Son. They principally produced flatware and tableware and were very successful, remaining in business under the management of the Bailey family until well into the 1970s.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the heart shaped finials and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 10.5cm / 4.1ins long and the set of six together weighs in at a very respectable 43.4g / 1.53oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the undersides of the bowls, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter b for 1901 and the A J B makers' mark for A.J. Bailey.
Shipping in the UK is £5 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
