Vintage Sterling Silver Striker Tinder Box
This lovely striker is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1931, although the maker's mark is rubbed and we have not been able to identify it. The striker has a removable flint holder, although no flint or striking paper is present. It has engine-turned decoration and on the front is engraved with 'Association of Steel Conduit Manufacturers' and on the back with the initials H.F. McL. The items weighs approx. 15g (0.49ozt).
Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There is some surface scratching and wear. There are two heavy dents to the front. The silver has some grubbiness and tarnishing and would benefit from a careful clean and polish. The flint holder is missing its flint and there is no striking paper present.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
5.5cm high (including flint holder), 3cm wide. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
