Vintage Silver Heart Trinket Dish, Birmingham 1991
This is a very pretty Vintage Sterling Silver Trinket Dish. The dish is heart shaped with a scroll decorated rim and a blank cartouche at the top of the heart. It would add a touch of elegance to any dressing table or bedside cabinet.
The trinket dish was made in Birmingham by silversmiths Broadway & Co and dates to 1991. Broadway & Co was founded by William Benjamin Broadway in Birmingham in 1901. The firm quickly established a reputation for good quality workmanship and produced a wide range of silverware for personal and domestic use. The company, now called Broadway Silversmiths, remains under the control of the Broadway family to this day and still uses many of the original dies and tools from the early years of the company.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the bare minimum of superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dish is a well made piece in a good gauge of silver. It measures 8cm / 3.1ins by 8cm / 3.1ins and weighs in at a very respectable 30g / 1.06oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the flat surface of the dish, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter R for 1991 and the B & Co makers' mark for Broadway & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
