Victorian Ebonised Mono Card Viewer with 9x Cards
This lovely card viewer looks to date from the late nineteenth century. It has an ebonised finish with an engraved front and a large central viewing lense. The viewer retains its card holder but is missing its stay. There are nine antique cards present, all of which appear to depict French buildings and scenes and most of which have a maker's sticker on the back for Bte. Guerard, Au Jardin des Tuileries. The viewer itself has no maker's marks.
Condition: Overall in fair-good condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. The catch is loose and the viewer is missing its stay. There is some scuffing and wear to the finish as might be expected. The cards are discoloured and faded with age and have some creasing and damage to the corners in places. Some have writing on the back.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Viewer (closed) - 14cm by 8.5cm, 3cm deep. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
