Superb Victorian walnut and marquetry bureau du dame / lady's writing desk in excellent condition. Two small cabinets decorated with delicate marquetry and string inlay sit either side of a small, shaped mirror and small drawer. The cabinets have elegant, pierced brass galleries and glazed doors which open to a wine velvet lined interior with fixed shelf. The fall front decorated with more of the fantastic marquetry inlay, opens to an original leather inset writing surface and a rosewood and tulip wood interior fitted with 3 waterfall drawers, pigeonholes and a sliding well, that opens to reveal storage space. Raised on elegant cabriole legs and ormolu to the hip and attractively shaped apron again decorated with marquetry inlay. This is a fantastic item that will add style and elegance to any home office
