Solid Silver Table Salt George Fenwick 1820
This lovely antique Scottish table salt has a solid silver frame with a decorative relief-work exterior and a gilded interior. It sits on four claw feet. The frame is fully hallmarked for what we believe to be Edinburgh 1820 with the maker's mark for George Fenwick. The table salt retains a lovely bristol blue glass liner, but we are not sure that this is original. Without its liner the piece weighs approx. 154g (4.9ozt).
Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The silver frame has some surface wear and tarnishing, and has what remains of some engraving to one side. The rim of the piece is slightly misshapen. The hallmarks are a little rubbed.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
5cm high, 9cm diameter of top (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
