Silver quaich, London, 1983
"Quaich" or "Quaigh" - a (Scottish) drinking cup, originally made of staves and hoops, now more usually made of silver or pewter.

This silver quaich is of overall plain design, with an open ring handle of two stylised head to head snakes.

The quaich is clearly marked for London, 1983 and the makers C J Vander Ltd.

C J Vander (Cornelius Joshua) founded his company in 1886. It closed in 2007.

The quaich measures 7 cm (2.7") in diameter and is 1.5 cm (.6") deep. The handle adds a further 2 cm (.8") to the width. It weighs 60 grams.
All measurements are approximate.

The silver is in good condition with no splits. There is however overall surface scratching from over zealous cleaning.

Please study all photos as these form an important part of the description.
