Scottish Silver Sugar Sifter, Robert Smeaton, 1819 Scottish Silver Edinburgh %%alt5%%
We have the real pleasure of being able to offer this lovely and very hard to find Scottish silver sugar sifter by Robert Smeaton of Edinburgh.

This Old English pattern silver sugar sifter is of a traditional elegant ladle form, with a bowl pierced by randomly arranged naughts and crosses, and a handle inscribed with the elaborate initials AL or AC. The reverse of the handle carries Scottish sterling silver hallmarks for Edinburgh 1819 along with the makers marks for Robert Smeaton of the historical Leith district found in the Northern part of Edinburgh.

The sifter weighs 21.95g and measures 5 & 7/8 inches (14.9cm) in length. It is in an excellent antique condition, carrying very clear hallmarks and makers marks along with a patina that testifies to 194 years of careful use.
