Pair Silver Octagonal Napkin Rings William Neale
or sale this gorgeous pair of George V Art Deco Solid Silver Octagonal Napkin Rings hallmarked Birmingham, William Neale, 1932. William Neale was renowned Birmingham silversmith and first established the business in 1850.
These are a beautiful pair of napkin rings and have many of the features of the Art Deco movement including a the geometric octagonal shape, the engine turned decoration and the sharply defined borders. Additionally the napkin rings have a vacant cartouche, so a fresh monogram can be engraved onto the rings.
Condition report: the rings are mildly tarnished with some deeper black marks, see photos, there are heavier tarnish around the joins of the octagonal shape, see photos, and the usual surface scratches that occur with age, so it has largely age related wear there is also a small dink on the edge of one of the napkin rings, which is hard to show with a photo. However, these napkin rings are in remarkably good condition for their over eighty year age.
