Pair Arts & Crafts embroidered panels maidens
A very decorative pair of Arts & Crafts silk embroideries depicting 'Flora' and Syrinx', both mythical figures, the former representing spring and the latter a spirit of nature imagined as a beautiful maiden inhabiting rivers, woods, or other locations.
Each measures 85cm x 41cm, the actual embroidery panels measure 65cm x 23cm. The figures are worked in a terracotta colour on a sage green ground. Both have a floral embroidered surround in pink/red and gold. Both are in very good condition - 'Flora' has some slight brown staining to the surround in the top left-hand corner and a slight crease to the top right-hand border, all commensurate with age and which do not detract in any way.
