This is nicely detailed hand-coloured map of Poland by Matthaus Merian (1592-1650), circa 1650. Titled "Polonia Regnum, et Silesia Ducatus", it is based on Blaeu's map of the same title. It covers the region that was then the Kingdom of Poland and the Duchy of Silesia. A pair of armorial shields and a decorative cartouche complete the composition. Merian's signature appears at lower right.

Engraved area 35 x 27.5 cm

Condition: Very good condition with uniform patination. Some discolouration along centre fold. Adequate margins beyond plate impression.
