Description: Rare Neapolitan Empire oval-shaped mirror in gilded and carved wood belonging to the early 19th century.

The edge features three types of carving including one with glass bead palmettes, one with a floral motif which characterizes much of the structure and one with racemes which embellishes both the cymatium and the part underneath.

The gilding is 24kt gold leaf and is placed on a layer of bole substance used as a background on which to then place the gold leaf.

The mercury mirror is original from the time.

Provenance: Naples, early 19th century.
