A fine French late 19th Century gilt oval mirror.
The gesso work is embossed and provides a contrast between the matt and burnished effects achievable by water gilding.
Some red bole showing through where the gold has been lightly worn, and the frame carries a few nicks, chips and cracks as is to be expected after all these years.
The glass is the original and has a very few dark spots. The back boards are original too.
