Here we have an attractive and very tactile tortoiseshell and silver snuff box. Probably used on the table after dinner rather than carried in a pocket, although both are quite feasible.
It dates from the Georgian period circa 1820.
The base is slightly concave, a feature and not an issue.

It is in very good condition and measures 4 inches by 3 inches by 1.5 inches.
