George V Silver Mounted Ebony Hairpins Pot, 1913 George V Ebony Silver %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a smart and practical George V Sterling Silver Mounted Ebony Hairpins Pot. The pot is cylindrical with a screwtop lid and the words Hair Pins in Sterling Silver mounted across the front.

The silver is hallmarked for Corke Brothers & Co of London and dates to 1913. Corke Brothers & Co registered their mark at Goldsmiths Hall in August 1904. They specialised in small silver items, primarily for personal use. The firm ceased trading around 1916.

Condition is good with just a few minor wear marks which have to be expected after 110 years of use. The lid screws on and off smoothly. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pot is 10.4cm / 4.1ins high and 3.7cm / 1.4ins in diameter. It weighs in at 53.7g / 1.9oz.

The hallmarks on the lettering are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter s for 1913 and the C Brs makers' mark for Corke Brothers & Co.
