George III Period Silver Bright Cut Sugar Tongs
Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this elegant pair of late 18th Century George III period, hallmarked silver Old English pattern sugar tongs.
This fine quality pair of Georgian silver sugar tongs has a hand engraved floral bright cut decoration, the terminal of the tongs with an oval cartouche which is free of any personalisation.
An elegant and highly usable item of George III period silver tableware ideal for use with either sugar or ice cubes.
The details are:
Silversmith: George Smith III active 1774-1785
Assay office: Lacks assay mark, but the silversmith is registered for London assay office.
Year of manufacture: part marked and lacking assay office mark and date letter.
Monarch: George III
Dimensions:
Length: 14 cm
Weight: 34 grams
Condition report:
In very good condition for age, with some age related scratches and surface marks plus odd tiny deeper scratch,their is a tarnish spot to the inside of one the bowls and one of the arms is slightly shorter than the other.
This is a fine piece of silver that will be an asset to your silver collection, great for entertaining indoors and outdoors or would be the perfect gift for a loved one.
