Edwardian Silver Cream Jug by Lines, Bunn & Mason
This is a good quality Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug. The jug id of bulbous form with an angular handle and four spreading feet. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The cream jug is made in Birmingham by silversmiths Lines, Bunn & Mason and dates to 1906. This firm was a fairly short lived partnership in Birmingham's Hockley Street from the late 1880s into the early 1900s. There's not a great deal of information about them but they seem to have made mostly tableware and smoking related items.
Condition is very good with just a couple of truly tiny dings in the body plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The jug measures 11.7cm / 4.6ins from lip to handle, 6cm / 2.3ins across the top of the rim and stands 7.7cm / 3ins high. It weighs in at a substantial 100.8g / 3.55oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, just below the rim, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter g for 1906 and the L.B & M makers' mark for Lines, Bunn & Mason.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cream jug.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
