Edwardian Cut Glass Vase with Silver Rim, London 1910
Here we have a very elegant Edwardian Cut Glass Vase with a Sterling Silver rim. The vase has a slender shape on a round base with cross hatched triangles and fringing around the upper part of the body. The shoulders are slice cut and the silver rim has a planished top to it in the Arts & Crafts style.
The Sterling Silver rim is hallmarked for London 1910, the last year of the Edwardian era, and is made by William Henry Sparrow. Sparrow was actually a Birmingham silversmith but did have occasional pieces assayed in London. He was active between around 1900 and 1920.
Condition is very good with no chips or cracks in the glass and no damage to the planished silver rim. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The vase stands 14cm / 5.5ins high and is 5.4cm / 2.1ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs 184.6g / 6.5oz.
The hallmarks on the side of the silver rim are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter p for 1910 and the W.H.S makers' mark for William Henry Sparrow.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
