Chunky antique Longines pocket watch and chain

Chunky antique Longines pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a good quality stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Longines and it also has the name Baume, the importers of Longines watches to the UK and the Commonwealth.
The movement is protected by an inner cover which has a couple of dates scratched into it, possible past service dates.
The watch measures 55mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop, so slightly larger than the standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is nickel and it is in lovely condition, just light surface marks but nothing serious at all. The inside of the case back has the initials of a previous owner, GB.
The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The signed dial looks good to the naked eye but if you look closely there is a short very faint hairline running across the centre. There is also some nibbling around the edge of the dial but when the bezel is shut, only a small chip is visible.
Original lever set hands (to initially set the time, the bezel is opened, the small lever by number 2 is pulled out, and the hands turned clockwise via the winding stem).
The watch comes with a double albert, each chain measuring 20cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Also included is an enamel and silver darts fob with an inscription to the reverse, awarded in 1944-5. A little enamel loss to the dart board.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
