Cased Victorian Silver Handled Cake Knife & Fork
An attractive early Victorian cake serving set in original fitted velvet and silk lined leather case with highly decorative and unusual sterling silver handles and silver plated blade and fork with machine engraved decoration to both sides of scrolling vines. The handle terminals with a crest of an armoured arm holding an arrow. The handles with hallmarks for Birmingham 1852 and maker initials for John Gammage. The leather case has attractive embossed decoration to the cover.
The knife measure 28cm (11") long and 3cm (1 3/16") wide and the fork measures 21.5 (8 1/2") long and 2.5cm (1") wide. They weigh 161g.
In excellent condition they appear unused. The case has some very minor marks to the top and some minor scuffing to the underside. The hinge is good and the clasp secure. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
