Big Cloth Drapeau Tricolore French Flag
Hand stitched in cloth, this good appliqué French Tricolour flag is a well-made textile.
There is a stain to the central white section of the flag, which could be washed out if desired, and a small snag to the red section, though more importantly there are no tears or holes and the three colours are still very vivid. There are also flagpole fittings present, with corded rope running through to a toggle at one end.
The French Revolution was essentially responsible for bringing the current national flag into existence. In the July of 1789, during those turbulent years, a rosette gave rise to the idea of the present French tricolor. The tricolor was influenced largely by the Paris coat of arms, which used red and blue as the dominant colors in the French rosettes. The pristine white denoting the French royalty was thought most suitable as a divider between the colors of the rosette.
A well made example in a large and desirable size.
