A rare regency bow fronted box base mirror mirror %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A rare Regency bow fronted box base mirror, veneered throughout in partridge wood with a broad satinwood crossband within a narrow tulipwood banding - original glass

Note: Partridge wood was a West Indies Guyana timber usually found as a veneer in small work ( Caddies etc).

Fashion Note: at this date the vertical oval mirror frame reflecting 18th Century hair styling had turned to a horizontal oval reflecting the looser informal style of ladies hair in the Regency period.
