6 x Art Deco Silver Teaspoons, Cooper Bros, 1929
Here we have a very unusual cased set of six Art Deco Sterling Silver Teaspoons. The spoons have a stylised human figure within the pierced finial done in a typically geometric Deco fashion. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The teaspoons are made in Sheffield by the renowned silversmiths Cooper Brothers & Sons and date to 1929. Although they made a wide range of silverware, Cooper Brothers & Sons are best known for their high quality cutlery and flatware and these teaspoons are a perfect example. The spoons come in their original box from the retailer Thomas Armstrong & Brother Ltd of Deansgate, Manchester.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the pierced finials and just the minimum of superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 90 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 11.3cm / 4.4ins long and the set of six together, uncased, weighs in at a very respectable 82.3g / 2.9oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the undersides of the stems, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter m for 1929 and the CB & S in a shield makers' mark for Cooper Brothers & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
