Vintage Silver Plated Wine Cooler, Parkin, c.1970s
This is a Vintage Silver Plated Wine Cooler in the classic urn design dating to around the 1970s. The design is stylish but not fussy with a pedestal base, a bulbous lower section and then a gadrooned rim.
The wine cooler is made in Sheffield by Parkin Silversmiths Ltd, most probably in the late seventies. The company was established as E.H. Parkin & Co in 1919, changing their name to Parkin Silversmiths Ltd in the mid-seventies and carrying on into the early 1990s, primarily making cutlery and flatware in their later period.
Condition is good with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss to the outside of the wine cooler and just some wear on the bottom of the inside. This is often the case as it is where the wine bottle sits in iced water. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The wine cooler is a good size and will comfortably hold any regular sparkling wine or white wine bottle. It stands 22cm / 8.75ins high and the diameter across the top rim is 18.5cm / 7.3ins. It weighs 641g / 22.6oz.
The base of the cooler is marked P S L for Parkin Silversmiths Ltd along with a small female portrait representing their trademark of Cameo Plate. Below this it\'s stamped Sheffield, England.
