Victorian Silver Plated Teapot, Lee & Wigfull

This is a fine quality late Victorian Large Silver Plated Teapot in the Neo-Georgian style. The teapot is broadly oval with a reeded body surrounding a blank cartouche on each side and with a wooden handle and finial.
The teapot is made in Sheffield by silversmiths and electroplaters Lee & Wigfull and dates to the latter years of the 19th century, c.1880s / 90s. Founded by George Lee & Henry Wigfull in the 1860s, by 1870 Wigfull had taken sole control but continued to use the Lee & Wigfull name. The firm was very successful and remained in business up until the late 1950s.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after around 130 to 140 years of serving tea. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
This is a substantial size teapot measuring 28.7cm / 11.3ins from spout to handle, 11.5cm / 4.5ins across and standing 14cm / 5.5ins high. It weighs 703g / 24.8oz.
The underside of the teapot is marked L & W for Lee & Wigfull, S for Sheffield and EP for silver plate along with a product number of 32666.
