Silver Plated Tazza Attributed to AE Jones & Co.

Finely crafted Arts & Crafts planished silver-plated tazza attributed to AE Jones & Co. c1905. Contoured bowl with applied pierced decorative detail to rim, supported on a trumpet-shaped central pedestal with rolled rim to foot. Silver plated over copper with hand-planished (hammered) finish throughout. Stamped pattern number 1897 to inside foot. The tazza is 11.25 cm in height and 15.5 cm in diameter. Overall form, design, use of materials and craftsmanship are typical of work from AE Jones & Co. of this period.
This tazza is in overall very good condition commensurate with age. No deformities or repairs to the tazza. Silver plate in overall very good condition with very minor rubbing to a few high spots on the applied decoration and very minor surface abrasions to the bowl. Please see images as these form an important part of the description. Further images available on request.
A.E. Jones became famed for its hallmarked silver as well as various other items produced from copper, bronze and brass. Large quantities of these pieces were unmarked except for a pattern number, yet they remain traceable back to the firm – due to the fine craftsmanship and distinctive design that is evident in them. A.E. Jones & Co was also known to have supplied Connell of Cheapside with silver plated items which were retailed under the Connell name – these pieces also stamped with pattern numbers as used by A.E. Jones & Co and as seen on this tazza. Viewing by appointment only.
